NXTDIGITAL started its journey as IndusInd Media & Communications Ltd. (IMCL) back in February 1995 from a small office at 135/G, Sind Mercantile building in Hinduja College compound, Charni Road, Mumbai. Subsequently, in September 1995, the company shifted to InCentre at MIDC, Andheri East, Mumbai. During the initial days, the company operated by showcasing 2 films a day, gradually moving to 5 films a day, and brought 2 cable networks with 3000 direct points.

The foundation of the Hinduja Group was laid by Parmanand Deepchand Hinduja (P. D. Hinduja), a self-made young businessman from the fabled town of Shikarpur (now in Pakistan).
